Jerry Swarts, director of University Support Services at Black Hills State University, has been selected to serve on a president’s advisory council for Blackboard.

The council represents the voice of the market-at-large as well as the needs of Blackboard Commerce Suite clients. Council members are asked to give feedback and insight into Blackboard’s current and future product plans, share information on their own use of Blackboard technology, and communicate their institution’s strategy.

As a member of the council, Swarts will attend semi-annual meetings, join occasional meetings via conference call or Webex, attend and help plan BbWorld Commerce, and participate in online surveys. He may also participate in reference calls and meetings, host a Blackboard Day at BHSU, and lead or join ad hoc committee groups.

Blackboard is a leading provider of e-Education enterprise software applications and services. The company was founded in 1997 with a vision to enable educational innovations everywhere by connecting people and technology. Blackboard consists of five software applications bundled in two suites, the Blackboard Academic Suite and the Blackboard Commerce Suite.

Swarts, who has been a member of the BHSU staff since 1969, has been actively involved in the utilization of Blackboard since 1993. Prior to becoming director of procurement and then university support services, Swarts served as director of the bookstore.
