Forty-six individuals competed in the SD CEO 5K/10K Run & Walk Saturday, June 16 at BHSU.

The South Dakota Center for Enterprise Opportunity (SD CEO) at Black Hills State University, in collaboration with Regional Health, hosted 46 participants in the 5K/10K Run & Walk held last Saturday at the Lyle Hare Stadium on the BHSU campus. The event was the culmination of the Healthy Bodies Healthy Business series and raised funds to further the mission of the SD CEO.

"The goal was to encourage people to be active and live a healthier lifestyle,” said Helen Merriman, director of the SD CEO. "It was a beautiful day and wonderful to see families, friends, men, women, boys and girls of all ages participate.”

Top finishers were as follows:

10K Women:  Caitlin Gehner - 50:21, Megan Lipp - 50:40, and Janna Cowling - 51:37

10K Men:  David Siemens - 42:44, JJ Bressler - 45:01, and Josh Hoffman - 45:06

5K Women: Lynn Sanford - 20:12, Jenny Bush - 21:40, and Brook Grout - 22:51

5K Men: Waylon Grout - 23:31, Tyler Kaitfors - 24:11, and Griffin Smith - 28:15

5K Teams: Auer Team - 39:55, Sitzman and Deichert Team - 48:29, and Merriman Team - 53:30

10K Team: Horst team - 1:00:50

The goal of the SD CEO is to provide comprehensive training and business assistance, and support and counseling for aspiring and established entrepreneurs in order to foster economic development in SD. The SD CEO is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Association (SBA), and is part of a network of more than 110 centers nationwide established through the SBA’s women’s business funding.
