Three Black Hills State University music students placed at the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition recently held in Aberdeen.  Students placing at the competition include (r to l) Kendra Iverson from Sidney, Mont., Logan Sulentic from Deadwood, and Katie McDougall from Gillette, Wyo. 

Three Black Hills State University music students placed at the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition recently held in Aberdeen.

Logan Sulentic, freshman speech communication major from Deadwood, took fourth place in the Musical Theater Collegiate Men division.  Kenrdra Iversen, sophomore vocal music education major from Sidney, Mont., took third place in the sophomore women division. Katie McDougall, senior vocal music education major from Gillette, Wyo., took fourth in senior women division.

Nancy Roberts, associate professor of music at BHSU, was their vocal coach.  She noted, “It is a great accomplishment for these singers to place among singers from all over the state of South Dakota.” 

Sedona Kemp, high school student from Deadwood, also coached by Roberts, won the high school division.
