Jean Kennedy, accounting assistant at Black Hills State University, and her husband Dave, Spearfish, were recently inducted into the 2011 South Dakota Snowmobile Association Hall of Fame (SDSA).
The Kennedys were chosen based for their years of involvement in SDSA and their contributions to SDSA. Dave and Jean were instrumental in revitalizing and expanding the coverage area for what is now an active club, the Northern Hills Snow Cruisers, in which Dave serves as club president.
Dave and Jean have both held various positions for SDSA. Jean served as treasurer from 2001 to November 2003, election teller at the convention, on the Governor’s Ride committee, a judge for the Snowmobiler of the Year competition, and has served as SDSA’s representative to (Black Hills Regional Multiple Use Coalition) BHRMUC since December 2005. Dave has been involved in leadership positions with the organization for 32 years.
Jean has also been a great contributor of photos to the Sno-Plainsman, capturing the various events and functions that she attends for the Snow Cruisers and for SDSA to include the Yamaha Fest and the Vintage Ride.
The award also commended the couple for their countless hours of dedication to ensure a well-run Governor’s Ride in addition to their long time dedication to SDSA.
Upon learning of their induction into the Hall of Fame, Jean said, “it was a total surprise and we feel truly honored.”
