Black Hills State University assistant athletic director John Kietzmann has accepted the position of assistant athletic director at the Metropolitan State College of Denver.

Kietzmann came to BHSU from Colorado State University in 2006 as the director of development for the University Advancement office. He was named assistant athletic director in 2009.

During Kietzmann’s tenure at BHSU, the Yellow Jacket Foundation has added over $700,000 to its scholarship endowment. Kietzmann was also heavily involved in the addition of the video board to the Donald E. Young Sports and Fitness Center gymnasium and renovating the Young Center bleachers to chair-back seating. He played a major role in the implementation of the new BHSU athletics website, which was recently named the top website in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) in the category of “Outsourced Website” by the NAIA Sports Information Directors of America.

“Black Hills State will always have a special place in my heart,” said Kietzmann. “It has been a pleasure to be a part of the Yellow Jacket family.”

“John has been a valued member of the Yellow Jacket staff and will be missed. We wish him the best in his future endeavors,” said Jhett Albers, director of Athletics at BHSU.

Kietzmann will continue to serve as assistant athletic director at BHSU until Oct. 21. According to Albers, the search to fill the position will begin immediately.
