The Black Hills Summer Institute of the Arts will host the 13th annual Young Performers Competition for musicians Friday, June 10 at 7 p.m. in the Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall at Black Hills State University.
The competition will highlight the talent of young musicians in the area communities. There will be two age categories; ages 9-14 and ages 15-20. Winners in each category will be awarded cash prizes. Entrants are required to perform one difficult memorized classical piece. Contestants will be judged on poise and stage presence as well as musicianship. Applications may be obtained by calling 605-642-6420 or Cami.Dohman@BHSU.edu. Participants must reside within 100 miles of Spearfish. The application deadline is June 9.
The competition is sponsored by the Black Hills Summer Institute of the Arts and the judging is coordinated by Johanna Meier. Tickets are $5 at the door.
