Plans are being developed at Black Hills State University for a new graduate degree program that emphasizes leadership. BHSU this week asked the South Dakota Board of Regents for permission to plan for a new master’s degree in strategic leadership.

Once its plans are finalized, BHSU will return to the Regents for final approval of the program. No new state resources are being requested to implement the degree, Regents’ officials said.

The M.S. degree in strategic leadership would be Black Hills State’s fourth master’s degree program. BHSU has been working with Ellsworth Air Force Base officials to develop a program that serves the needs of military personnel among others. The program, if approved, would be delivered entirely online beginning this fall.

In other action Friday, the Board of Regents approved new certification programs in K-12 science education at BHSU.
