Beth Azevedo has been named director of admissions at Black Hills State University.
Azevedo, who has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in business services from BHSU as well as a master’s degree in information systems, began working in the admissions office three years ago.
Dr. Kristi Pearce, dean of enrollment services, says Azevedo will bring a fresh approach to recruitment for BHSU. She added that Azevedo’s dedication and commitment as well as her experience in several positions in admissions, has given her the opportunity to fully understand the recruitment and application process.
“With her strong educational background, Beth is well-equipped to be an effective leader for admissions and to move forward using cutting-edge communication tools and enrollment management systems,” Pearce says. “Beth’s hands-on understanding of admissions and her vision will be beneficial to grow BHSU enrollment.”
Last year Azevedo was promoted to senior programmer analyst and was instrumental in leading the admissions office in several new initiatives to develop a useful prospective student database, use online chats, incorporate student blogs, and create email communications with prospective students.
Azevedo is looking forward to leading the admissions office as the university works to meet enrollment goals, continues to admit high achieving students and enhances communications efforts with prospective students.
“I’m fortunate to be part of such a dedicated team in admissions. It is their enthusiasm in the office, dedication to the students, and commitment to BHSU that makes it easy for me to look forward to the challenge of identifying and selecting future BHSU students,” Azevedo says. “I find it remarkable that in admissions, we are able to provide prospective students and their families with valuable information as they make this decision that will forever impact their lives. I look forward to working with the administration, faculty, and staff to admit students who will positively impact BHSU and the Spearfish community, succeed in a rigorous academic program, and graduate from BHSU with the opportunity to become leaders worldwide.”
As director of admissions, Azevedo will be responsible for leading and directing the admissions process by collaborating on the design and implementation of a comprehensive enrollment plan for BHSU. She will establish admission objectives, design strategies, and implement services to reach enrollment goals.
