The South Dakota Center for Enterprise Opportunity (SD CEO) and Black Hills State University will host the fall 2010 Women in Business Conference, “From High Heels to High Places,” Saturday, Oct. 23 from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Nationally-recognized author and effective business communication skills expert Jane Hight McMurry will share her tips on “Navigating the Lipstick Jungle” and offer her unique approach to time management skills with "Save time in a bottle...make wishes come true."

Hight McMurry states, “An unaware woman is like a stick of dynamite, her power is on the inside with nothing happening until her fuse gets lit. This program ignites the fuse. This presentation navigates the way to the mountain top of success by pulling away the brambles so a woman can see what she needs to do in order to attract, develop, and maintain professional relationships so she can get a job, keep a job, and advance in a job—at the highest level. ”

Participants will also be able to take advantage of breakout sessions on finance, marketing and franchising, along with exhibitor booths and many networking opportunities. Topics and presenters include:

The conference will be held in the Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall on the BHSU campus. The cost is $75 ($60 for students) and includes lunch, a resource program, and a gift bag. The SD CEO, located on the campus of Black Hills State University, provides business assistance and training to current and prospective entrepreneurs from start up to expansion to foster economic development in South Dakota. The SD CEO is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). While services are available to all those interested in entrepreneurship, SD CEO focuses primarily on: women, Native Americans, the socially disadvantaged, youth entrepreneurs and women veterans.
