The 2010 Swarm Day king and queen candidates have been announced at Black Hills State University. Coronation will take place on Thursday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. in the Jacket Legacy Room in the Student Union.

The homecoming king candidates are Will Malde, senior physical education major from Hot Springs; Will John Johnson, senior biology major from Whitewood; Ryan Shippy, senior mass communication and history major from Colome; Newley Kartak, senior communication art and business administration major from Colome; Owen Welch, senior business administration major from Irene; and Jake Davis, senior human services major from Belle Fourche.

This year’s queen candidates are Crystal (Chris) Burnett, senior political science major from Chicago, Ill.; Crystal Savage, senior mass communication and history major from Stillman Valley, Ill.; Amanda Reed, senior elementary education major from Powell, Wyo.; Sarah O’Donnell, senior art education major from Lemmon; Wendy Kummer, senior mathematics education major from Parkston; and Ashley Klinkhammer, senior elementary education major from Mitchell.

Swarm Week, BHSU’s annual homecoming celebration, will begin Monday, Sept. 27. Various programs at BHSU are sponsoring exciting events throughout the week concluding Saturday, Oct. 2 at Lyle Hare Stadium with this year’s Swarm Day football game. This year’s homecoming theme is “Buzzin’ on the Beach” with the Yellow Jacket (Sting, the mascot) in a beach or tropical paradise role.
