Black Hills State University received unanimous approval today from the South Dakota Board of Regents to begin the application process for NCAA Division II membership.
“Black Hills State University is very excited to get the approval from the Board of Regents to submit our application to the NCAA,” said Jhett Albers, BHSU athletic director. “We believe that the NCAA is a good fit for the future of our athletic programs.”
BHSU will submit its application to the NCAA by the June 1 deadline, and will be notified in July whether the application for candidacy was accepted.
If approved for membership by the NCAA, BHSU would move to a two-year candidacy period followed by a one-year provisional period.
