Black Hills State University photography students are currently exhibiting photographs in the Ruddell Gallery located on the BHSU campus through April 23.
The 16th Annual BHSU Student Photography Exhibit consists of nearly 90 photographs from over 75 students. The work includes conventional black and white and color photographs, digitally produced photographs, and a variety of alternative silver and non-silver processes including Lithe prints and Polaroid transfers. The images in this exhibition were collected from 11 photography courses ranging from the most basic to the very advanced that were offered this academic year.
Lynn Thorpe, adjunct instructor of art at BHSU, acted as this year’s juror awarding cash prizes for first, second, and third place as well as seven honorable mentions. Prizewinners include: Niko Duca, mass communication major from Rapid City; Becky Jensen, mass communication major from Rapid City; and James Netzer, commercial art major from Sidney, Mont. Honorable mentions were awarded to: Mike Soriano, Spanish major from Spearfish; Debra Iverson, speech communication major from Bowman, N.D.; Chris Yushta, mass communication major from Spearfish; Randal Iverson, mass communication major from Spearfish; Heidi Dubej, mass communication major from Spearfish; Tristan Bowling, mass communication major from Pierre; and Rebecca Gage, mass communication major from Sisseton.
The Ruddell Gallery is located on the second floor of the David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
