High school students and community members are invited to attend the 2009 Art Fair at Black Hills State University. The Art Fair will be held Thursday, Oct. 1 from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the David B. Miller Student Union Jacket Legacy Room.

The fair will feature art supply vendors from across the country promoting, demonstrating, and selling their latest art supplies at reduced prices.

Workshops with regional artists are planned throughout the day. Sarah Rogers and Jenny Braig will hold a workshop from 12-1 p.m. in the Jacket Legacy Room followed by Mike Knutson and Lynne Thorp from 1-2 p.m.

High school artists are also invited to participate in a regional online juried art exhibition. A maximum of 15 pieces of artwork from each school may be submitted. Winners will be selected by BHSU art students and art supply awards will be give for each place. Awards will be selected for first, second, third and art vendors’ choice.

Entrants are asked to submit artwork as Jpeg files on a CD with the student’s name, title of artwork and the student’s school, as well as contact information. CDs will be collected at the Art Fair and the exhibit will be placed online the following week. Winners will have their artwork displayed in the bookstore and the on BHSU website.
