The Black Hills State University Music Department will host several spring concerts. All performances will take place in the Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall on the BHSU campus.
- Student Conductors Showcase
Thursday, April 23 – 7:30 p.m.
Band, choir, and orchestra will perform under the direction of student conductors.
- Concert Choir: My Spirit Sang All Day
Sunday, April 26 – 2:30 p.m.
Enjoy the concert "My Spirit Sang All Day" performed by the Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, and the Community Chorale. Listen to Joseph Haydn's Mass to commemorate the 250th anniversary of his death. Enjoy English part-songs, pop arrangements, motets, folk songs, spirituals, and hear the premiere of a new choral work by local composer, Merlyn Aman.
- Community/Concert Band
Monday, April 27 - 7:30 p.m.
The concert will include performances by woodwind and percussion chamber groups, as well as the full band. The concert will be conducted by Mr. Christopher Hahn, instructor of music at BHSU, as part of his Doctoral conducting recital.
- BHSU Opera Scenes Concert
Thursday, April 30 – 7:30 p.m.
- Piano Duet Concert
Sunday, May 3 - 2:30 p.m.
Piano duets by American composers will be the theme of this unique concert, featuring BHSU student pianists and community pianists of the popular Spearfish Duet Club. The music is a mixture of classical and popular pieces.
