Twenty-one Black Hills State University students and their advisor will be traveling to the California Redwoods during spring break to work with children at Camp Campbell, a YMCA camp near Boulder Creek, Calif.
This is one of many community service activities BHSU students are involved in. Fundraising activities are planned to help students afford the trip the fourth annual Alternative Spring Break.
The first fundraising event is Sunday, Feb 15. at Culver’s in Spearfish. A portion of the proceeds received that day between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. or 5-8 p.m. will go directly to the Alternative Spring Break trip. Culver’s is located just off I-90 exit 14.
The 2009 Alternative Spring Break Yard Sale is Friday, Feb. 27, from 3-6 p.m. and Saturday, Feb 28, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union Marketplace and will raise funds for the volunteers.
