|BHSU Volleyball wins DAC championships! Watch them play in the opening round of the NAIA National Championships.
Black Hills State University will host the 2008 NAIA Volleyball National Championship Opening Round Nov. 22 at the Donald E. Young Sports and Fitness Center. The Yellow Jacket volleyball team defeated Jamestown College 3-2 last Saturday to earn a spot in the national tournament.
The BHSU volleyball team has had a stellar season and is anxious to compete in the opening round on their home court. The Yellow Jackets, who won the Dakota Athletic Conference Championship, will take on William Penn University from Iowa in the opening round action.
The game has been designated a “Fear the Sting” night and fans are encouraged to wear their gold apparel as they cheer on the Yellow Jacket volleyball team in their first-ever NAIA National Tournament appearance. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for students. The first 40 students will be admitted free. In addition the first 100 fans will receive a large foam hand-shaped cheering mitt. BHSU apparel will be available for purchase prior to the game. Fans can redeem the mini-volleyballs that have been awarded throughout the season for a 25 percent discount on purchases.
The NAIA opening round pairings for the 29th Annual NAIA Volleyball National Championship will be played Nov. 22 at different on-campus sites including the action scheduled at BHSU. Winners of each opening round match will advance to the final site in Sioux City, Iowa. The tournament will be held at the Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena from Dec. 2-6, 2008 in Sioux City.
