The Black Hills State University rodeo team recently raised $7,500 at a two-day golf tournament at the Spearfish Country Club. The money will be used to help cover future travel expenses and for scholarships. The winning team of the tournament was Team Rarick, with a score of 57. Team Rarick is (left to right) Jim Rarick, Scott Graslie, BHSU rodeo team member Zach Robinson, business administration major from Elko, Nev.; and Ray Spellman. The team plans to make the tournament an annual event put on by Black Hills Rodeo Scholarship Fund, Inc.

BHSU rodeo club members joined three community members to form teams for the tournament which was followed by team roping at the Seven Down Event Center.

The winning team with a 57 was “Team Rarick” which included: Jim Rarick, Scott Graslie, Ray Spellman, and Zach Robinson, BHSU rodeo team member.  The second place winners were “Team Anderson” with a 64.  The team members were: Stewart Anderson, Jason Tackus, Jeff Nelson, and Jillian Gropper, BHSU rodeo team member.

The rodeo team will be hosting the Yellow Jacket Rodeo Roping Series at Seven Down Arena in Spearfish Sunday, Nov. 16; Saturday, Nov. 22; and Sunday, Dec.14. Registration begins at 12 noon and roping begins at 1 p.m. each day.
