The Lady Yellow Jackets are 5-8 to start the 2008 season behind a solid offense. The young Yellow Jackets are currently starting one senior.  They are also starting five freshman and counting on them for major contributions.

"We started with a tough schedule to prepare for conference play. Conference play started with Jamestown College who was ranked #3 in the Dakota Athletic Conference and we were able to get a split. This past weekend we played Mayville State and Valley City State and went 3-0. We are having success right now because of strong offensive play as a team" said Coach Gurney.

The Lady Yellow Jackets currently have 10 players on the roster with home runs this helps the high powered offense with having a lot of depth. Defensively the Jackets have had some strong perfomances in the outfield led by three freshman.  They have not accounted for one error over the last nine games. "We have had strong pitching performances from Jessica Clark who keeps hitters off balance at the plate and shows a lot of composure on the mound. The infield is led behind two captains playing the middle infield and they continue to be consistent as we get deeper in the season" added Coach Gurney.

Recently the Jackets took on a top 15 team in the country and #1 in the region Dickinson State University.  The Yellow Jackets went toe to toe with the powerhouse losing both games 3-2 in the first and 3-1 in the second. "We had a chance to win both games and that is the goal when you play a team like Dickinson" said Coach Gurney.

This weekend the Lady Yellow Jackets will travel to Minot State to take on Mayville State and Minot State. Game times will be at 1pm & 3pm Saturday and 11am & 1pm on Sunday in Minot, North Dakota. The next home game for the Jackets will be Wednesday, April 9th against Chadron State College at 3pm & 5pm.
