Rob Johnson recently signed a letter of intent to play basketball starting in the fall of 2008 for Black Hills State University.  He is a 6’6” forward that has started the past four years for Tongue River High School.  “We are extremely excited to have Rob join the Yellow Jacket family. He brings the combination of size and skill that could really help us at the forward position. More importantly, Rob is a tremendous student, and is the kind of human being that makes the team important" said coach Sather.

In 2007-2008 he led his team to the State Semifinals losing a heartbreaker to Sundance High School. As a senior he averaged 21 points, 16 rebounds, 6 blocks, and 5 assists per game. He had highs against Big Horn High School (42 points, 14 rebounds, 6 blocks 1/11/08), Big Horn High School (29 points, 28 rebounds, 5 blocks 2/8/08), Sundance High School (34 points, 20 rebounds, 5 blocks 2/16/08), Rocky Mountain (21 points, 23 rebounds, 11 assists, 8 steals, 7 blocks 2/2/08).  He was also named Conference Player of the Year (2nd time), All Conference (4 years in a row), All State (3 years in a row), 4 time Sheridan County All-Star, and Sheridan County Player of the Year.

On top of having success on the basketball court Rob has really excelled in the classroom being a member of the National Honor Society with a GPA of 4.0. He is also the State President for the Wyoming Chapter of FCCLA (Family, Career, Community Leaders of America) and is currently ranked #1 in his class.

Rob also was a four year starter on the football field as a quarterback where he earned numerous awards. He was a four year varsity starter, three-time All Conference, three-time All State, 3A Offensive Player of the Year, Casper Star Tribune Super 25- first team, selected to the 2008 Shrine Bowl All Star Game, Selected as a State Finalist for the Wendy’s High School Heismann Award, Selected to Wyoming Chapter National Football Foundation Top 12 Scholar-Athlete, and was Sheridan County Co-Player of the Year.

Rob’s parents are Mick and Dixie Johnson. He also has a sister Courtney who is currently in her freshman season as a Lady Yellow Jacket.
