Spearfish, SD – Two-time defending Dakota Athletic Conference Football Champion Black Hills State has signed nineteen recruits thus far for the 2008 fall campaign.  The list includes athletes from South Dakota, Colorado, Nebraska, Georgia, and California.  Head Yellow Jacket Coach John Scott commented, “Our staff did a great job evaluating these kids and getting them on campus early for a look at the school”.  With the addition of some key recruits the 2008 squad will be solid and should make a run at a third consecutive title.  Scott stated, “The incoming class appears to be a good combination of athletic big kids’ and skill kids that have some quickness and speed.  One consistent trait in all of them is that they are effort guys.  As in previous years most of these recruits will have the opportunity to play early in their careers.”  In all the Yellow Jackets look to bring in 30 – 35 recruits in this year’s class.

Pictured is Wyoming standout Stephen Easton and his parents.  Easton, a linebacker from Southeast High School, earned All State Honors as a junior and senior as well as a two-time Wyoming Super 25 selection.  Stephen will also compete in the Wyoming Shrine All-Star game this summer.

The Yellow Jackets will begin spring practice on April 7th and conclude with a intra-squad scrimmage on April 26th.  The Jackets open the season on September 6 at NCAA Division II Southwest State University. First home game is September 13th when the Jackets host NAIA power Northwest Oklahoma State.
