Savannah Dederick has signed a letter of intent to play collegiate basketball for Black Hills State University. She is a 6’0 senior forward from ThunderRidge High School in Highlands Ranch, CO.

Savannah averaged 7pts, 7 Rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks a game as a junior for the Grizzlies. She helped lead her team to the state tournament the last 3 seasons. ThunderRidge High School was 2005 Colorado 5A State Champs, in 2006 they made it to the semi-finals and last year they made it to the quarter final game. She has been a major contributor for her team in all statistical categories.

Head Coach Mark Nore exclaims, “She is a well rounded basketball player that has a bright future at Black Hills State University. Defensively; she can guard a post or a perimeter. She is very versatile in her abilities to defend. Her biggest asset defensively is her athleticism and ability to go after rebounds. We will help to encourage her to continuously play with that “edge” defensively at the collegiate level.”

“Offensively; Savannah has not been asked to do much scoring for her team because of the other threats around her but we feel like she can become a good scorer at our level. She possesses great hands and great feet. She is an “active” player that can really pass from the post position. Her ability to catch in traffic and ability to pass is her biggest asset and we will continue to sharpen these important skills.”

Savannah has numerous awards and accomplishments from her stint at ThunderRidge High School. She will earn 12 athletic letters (4 in basketball, 4 in volleyball, and 4 in track). She was voted honorable mention All-Continental League in basketball, first team All-Continental League for track, first team Academic All-State for basketball, volleyball, and track. Savannah was voted the most athletic student for her high school, holds the school record in the 40 yd dash. She was honored by Douglas County School District at the first “Women in Sports” banquet and is the first ThunderRidge athlete to qualify for 4 events at the Colorado State Track Meet.

“Savannah will be a great fit with the players we have and the players we have coming in. She has a no fear mentality and will bring more athleticism to our front court. Most importantly, Savannah has great character. She is a perfect fit to our team. She comes from a great family and a school with great tradition. She knows how to win and work hard. That’s two ingredients that you just can’t teach, exclaims Coach Nore. We’re excited for the opportunity to work with Savannah. She has a bright future with us.”
