Men's basketball traveled this past weekend to Sioux City, Iowa to take on #25 Morningside College. They Yellow Jackets struggled shooting in the first half and got down early to the Mustangs. Morningside took a 42-26 lead into halftime. In the second half the Yellow Jackets tried to get back into the game late but fell short as Morningside took the game 76-67. The Yellow Jackets had three players with nine points senior Forrest Dorr, junior AJ Fodness, and freshman Cain Atkinson. Freshman Will John Johnson had 9 rebounds.

The next night Black Hills State University took on Division II Northern State University who was picked to finsih second in the Northern Sun Conference behind Winona State University. Northern State tried to pull away early going up by 10 points in the first half.  The Jackets fought back to get within three but trailed at halftime 40-32. In the second half, Black Hills State battled back in forth with the Yellow Jackets eventually taking the lead at the 6:00 minute mark. In the last five minutes both teams tried to gain the edge. With 32 seconds left Black Hills State trailed 76-75 but had the ball. The Yellow Jackets had a chance to win just missing a layup with eight seconds left. Northern state would add one more free throw to bring the final to 77-75. The Yellow Jackets were led by junior forward Randy Herman who went 6-9 from three and had 20 points. Junior AJ Fodness added 17 points and pulled down a game high eight rebounds.

This weekend the Yellow Jackets men's basketball team will travel to Omaha, Nebraska to play in the Grace University Tournament. They will play Midland Lutheran College on Friday and Grace University on Saturday afternoon.
