The women's basketball team traveled last weekend to Rapid City to play in the South Dakota School of Mines Classic. On Friday they took on Northwest University where they took the lead going into halftime at 41-26. In the second half the Yellow Jackets came out firing as they outscored Northwest in the second half by nine points taking the game 85-61. The Yellow Jackets were led by sophomore Brittney Fuhrman with 18 points making six three pointers. Senior Lacey Haughian had 15 points, sophomore Bayley Chevron had 12 points, and freshman Katelynn Lamb added 11 points. Senior Snjezana Dojcinovic had 10 rebounds.
On Saturday the Yellow Jackets took on Johnson & Wales University our of Denver, Colorado. Black Hills State built an early lead and never looked back taking the game 105-49. Again, the Yellow Jackets had four players in double figures led by senior Snjezana Dojcinovic with 21 points. Freshman Katelynn Lamb had 14 points. Sophomore Brittany Fuhrman and freshman Kalyn Sticher both added 11 points.
This weekend the Yellow Jackets will travel to Midland Lutheran College as they will take on MidAmerica Nazerine and Midland Lutheran. They will then return this Monday to host Southwest Minnesota University in the Donald E. Young Center at 6:00pm.
