The Yellow Jackets football team wrapped up their regular season last Saturday with a 52-0 win at Valley City State University. The Jackets started out in the first quarter having to punt in their first few possessions but as they entered the second quarter the Yellow Jackets were clicking on all cylinders. They outscored the Vikings in the second quarter 17-0 bringing the halftime score to 24-0. The Yellow Jackets would eventually add 28 points in the second half. “We played very hard all the way to the gun. Defensively we were very strong holding a team that had 700 yards the week to under 250 total yards” said Coach Scott.

Offensively the Yellow Jackets had over 400 yards of total offense on Saturday. Freshman Tanner Ehrlich and junior Joe Beehler combined for 300 total yards and four touchdowns. Beehler had 3 touchdowns earning him DAC Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Defensively the Yellow Jackets had a great afternoon as a team. Our defense in the last six games has really done a nice job of playing team defense” added Coach Scott. Senior Garland Sanders had one interception on the afternoon where he ran it back for 50 yards setting up a score for the offense. The Yellow Jacket defensive backfield was impressive in the win without senior standout Tanner Tetrault who was held out of the game with a hand injury.

The Yellow Jackets finished their season 7-3 earning a share of the DAC Title. They won their final six games earning them a #21 ranking in the NAIA. The team will practice this week as they wait until Sunday at 12:00pm to find out if they will get into the NAIA Playoffs.
