The Yellow Jacket men's basketball team played their second game of the season Saturday night against Mount Marty College. The Yellow Jackets were able to jump on the Lancers at the end of the first half to increase their lead to 11 points going in to the locker room. In the second half Black Hills State increased their lead to as much as 17 points at one time. The Lancers came roaring back in the last 10 minutes of the second half to eventually tie the game at 71-71. In the final 20 seconds the Yellow Jackets stopped the Lancers from scoring and got senior guard Forrest Dorr going to the basket getting fouled with 3 seconds to play. Dorr made one of two giving the Yellow Jackets a one point lead 72-71 which would be the final score. The Yellow Jackets were led by freshman Cain Atkinson with 17 points. Junior AJ Fodness had 12 points and freshman Will John Johnson added 11 points and 9 rebounds.

On Sunday afternoon the Yellow Jackets were back in action against Dakota Wesleyan University. The Tigers jumped out to an early lead but Black Hills State came back to tie the game at 36-36 going in at halftime. In the second half the first ten minutes went back and forth with the Yellow Jackets taking a five point advantage with 8 minutes to play. Dakota Wesleyan would eventually come back to take a late 10 point lead 74-64. The Yellow Jackets wouldn't go away being within five points with just over a minute to play. The Tigers would eventually get the Yellow Jackets by a score of 85-80. The Yellow Jackets were led by junior Randy Herman with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Freshman Cain Atkinson had 12 points and freshman Will John Johnson added 11 points and 8 rebounds.

Men's basketball will be back in action this Friday night as they travel to Sioux city, Iowa to take on #25 Morningside College at 8:00pm Central Time. On Saturday the Yellow Jackets will take on Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota as an exhibition game. That game will be played at 7:00pm Central Time.
