The Yellow Jackets will leave this Friday to Valley City, North Dakota to face a team that has won three of their last four games. “We are preparing for this week like the previous nine weeks. We have to stay focused as we are going against a team that is playing their best football right now” said Coach Scott. The Yellow Jackets have won their last five games and are looking to have a chance to be tied for the DAC Conference title after this weekend.
Offensively Valley City State will find ways to confuse their opponents by showing many different formations. A week ago against South Dakota School of Mines & Technology the Vikings offense totaled over 700 yards. They look to create as many mismatches as they can by running a very versatile run and pass offense. Their quarterback is amongst the leaders in the DAC Conference in yards passing.
Defensively Valley City State is much different than the last time these two teams faced earlier in the season at Lyle Hare. They will really look to run more of a pressure defense and are playing really well right now with getting their defensive players on the move. Their last three games they have been very strong as a defensive unit.
“Offensively we have to be patient because they will show a lot of movement defensively. We need to still have a good balance between run and pass. We also need to finish any opportunities that we may have. Last week we had the ball inside the 20-yard line many times and only came away with field goals. This time we need to take advantage of those opportunities. Defensively we have to keep things in front of us and we can’t let guys run free. Our communication will be important defensively so we are on the same page. We are looking to play good fundamental defense” added Coach Scott.
The game will be played at 1:30pm Central Time on the Valley City State University campus.
