The Yellow Jackets and Trojans both enter this game 2-1 in the Dakota Athletic Conference. This is an extremely important game for both teams as the standings play out. Dakota State is under the direction of Tom Shea who is no stranger to the Trojan program. He played for Dakota State and had a coaching stint there in the past. “This year Coach Shea has really brought stability and tradition back to Dakota State. He has a core of guys returning from last year and he really helped fill in the holes by bringing in some junior college players that were ready to play. In both losses the games were extremely close. They are doing the little things right” said Coach Scott.
Offensively their offense is built around Donald Strand the 6’2” junior quarterback. Strand is extremely athletic and elusive which makes him very dangerous until the whistle blows. The Trojans have a great mixture of run and pass with their quarterback being involved in both of those options.
Defensively the Trojans return a very strong defensive front line. “Coach Shea has done a great job filling in the blanks with solid players. The defensive line allows the defensive backfield to get out and take away your perimeters” added Coach Scott.
The Yellow Jackets are looking to continue their win streak as they are coming off back to back wins. “Offensively we have to have a good combo of run and pass and really take care of the ball. The last two games we have only had one turnover. Defensively we have to play assignment football and not let things break down. We have to play through the whistle and finish every play” said Coach Scott.
Saturday’s game will be played at Lyle Hare Stadium on the Black Hills State University campus at 1:00PM.
