Minot State University got off to an emotional start on Saturday afternoon with their first home game and it being homecoming. The game started 10-0 on a few offensive miscues by the Yellow Jackets. After being down early the Yellow Jackets had trouble responding throughout the rest of the game. “We aren’t a good enough team yet to spot somebody ten points. We got down early and we were really pressing in the second half trying to do everything individually instead of together as a team. We looked like a frustrated football team going in all directions Saturday” said Coach Scott. The Yellow Jackets would strike late with two touchdowns to make the final score 30-14 in favor of Minot State University.

Minot State kept the Yellow Jackets off balance on defense with a delayed running game. This took advantage of the Yellow Jackets being over aggressive. “It was really tough for our defense as Minot had great field possession all afternoon off 6 turnovers” added Coach Scott.

Offensively the Yellow Jackets ran four plays and were down 10-0. The Yellow Jackets running game didn’t ever get going. Minot State brought more guys to the line to stop the run attack putting the pressure on the Yellow Jackets young quarterback. “We are still in a maturing process with only two seniors offensively. Drew never quit competing. He really scrambled well and moved around the pocket as he through for two touchdowns late in the game” said Coach Scott.

The Yellow Jackets will travel again this weekend to take on Dickinson State University at 1:30pm Mountain Standard Time. The following week the Yellow Jackets will return home for Swarm Days against rival South Dakota School of Mines.
