The Yellow Jackets entered the game tonight 11-0 hosting Mayville State University. Going into the game the Yellow Jackets were hoping to be more consistent throughout the whole match. The Yellow Jackets were able to put Mayville away in three straight games improving their record to 12-0.
In the first game the Yellow Jackets came out very strong taking a 7-0 lead as the Comets called a timeout. Coming out of the timeout Mayville went on a run to tie the game at 26-26. The Yellow Jackets were finally able to put them away winning the game 31-29.
In the second game Black Hills State led the whole way as they took the game 30-23. The Yellow Jackets really looked like they were starting to gain the consistency they had been looking for. In the final game the Yellow Jackets rolled to a 30-19 victory to win the match 3-0.
“We still were up and down tonight and are still looking to carry over the consistency from game to game. We are playing well enough to stay competitive and win matches and having that confidence is a great sign” said Coach Albers. The Yellow Jackets were led in kills by Kristin Engle and Maggie O’Neill who each had 11. Sophomore setter Mandy Brumfield had 30 assists on the evening.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action Saturday night as they will take on Valley City State in the Donald E. Young Center at 7:00pm.
