The Black Hills State Yellow Jacket cross-country teams will head to Ft. Collins, Colorado this weekend to compete at the Colorado Classic hosted by CSU. The meet, held at Hughes stadium, will feature some very talented teams from surrounding Universities including, Adams State, Colorado College, Northern Colorado, Metro State, and Colorado State, the host team.
The Adams State women’s team is currently ranked first in the NCAA Division II poll, and their men second, while Colorado States women’s team, who won the Wyoming Invitational in their first meet, is ranked 18th in the NCAA Division I national poll. Adams State women’s team is also the defending champions in Division II for the past four seasons, while their men’s team has been runner-up three straight years after winning the title in 2003. The CSU women’s team is returning off of a team finish of 24th at the Division I Championships last season. Currently the Yellow Jacket women are tied for fourth in the NAIA rankings released on September 12, and the men fifth.
The meet will begin at 9:45am with the women’s 5K and the men will follow at 10:30am competing in a 6K.
