Spearfish, SD - Black Hills State University head coach Scott Walkinshaw has released the names of twenty two recruits who plan to compete in cross country and/or track and field while attending BHSU in 2007-08;

"We are very pleased with this group that has outstanding athletes from five surrounding states. We also had more success in some events than we've had in the past which will give us more balance on both teams. A few of these athletes will be a major factor on the national level right away and some will be competitive in a year or two."

The recruiting class includes seven state champions, including former Douglas High School and South Dakota School of Mines standout Shannon Hellman. Hellman was a four time state high school champion who holds the 100 meter hurdle state record. Shannon has also dominated her first two seasons in the NAIA winning national titles in the high hurdles in 2007 both indoor and out. In 2006, Hellman qualified and competed in the U.S. Junior National Meet in Indianapolis.

Zach Condon, and incoming freshman from Laurel, MT will look to make and immediate impact in the middle distance events. Last year, Zach was the 400 and 800 meter Montana State A champion. Zach posted a personal best of 1:54.09 in winning the 800 meters. All together, Zach has been All-State 12 times, has 4 state championships, and one state team title. ****Zach will arrive at BHSU with much fan support as both of his parents graduated from Black Hills State and many relatives still remain in the area.

****Zach is the son of Rob and Lisa Condon, who both graduated from Black Hills State University. He is the grandson of Tom and Carol Sprigler of Laurel, Montana and the great grandson of Betty Johnson who lives here in Spearfish.

Ashlee DellaSilva of Corvallis, NT will bring much more speed to the Lady Yellow Jackets. She is a two-time 100 meter state champion and placed third in the 200 meters her senior year. Ashlee was also a member of the winning 400 meter relay and the 1600 meter relay that finished runner-up.

Dallon Anderson from Lyman, WY (Mountain View High School) will add support in a variety of events. Anderson won two events in the Wyoming State Meet breaking the class 3A state high jump record clearing 6-08.25 and winning the high hurdles.

Marc Ellefson form Lennox won both the 110 and 300 meter hurdles this past spring at the South Dakota State Meet.
