Vancouver, Wash.. – The Black Hills State University women’s cross country team finished third at the NAIA National Championship Meet in Vancouver, Wash. on Saturday afternoon and the men’s team placed 18th.

The women’s team scored 151 points and was led by Erin Curran.  Curran placed fourth overall in a time of 17:52.  Courtney Dickson and Leigh Anne Whiteside were the next two Yellow Jackets to cross the finish line.  Dickson completed the course in a time of 18:32 to finish 28th and Whiteside finished in 18:37 to place 33rd.  Lela Carpenter placed 73rd and finished in 19:09.  Abi Bever was the fifth Yellow Jacket across the line to finish 90th in a time of 19:18.  Brooke Wells and Anna Yanchek rounded out the Black Hills State competitors.  Wells completed the course in 20:09 and Yanchek finished in 20:39.

The Black Hills State men’s team scored 423 points.  Jed Morgan was the first person to cross the finish line for the Yellow Jackets.  Morgan finished in a time of 26:06 and placed 53rd.  Mitch Kraft and Lane Parish were the next two to cross the finish line.  Kraft was 105th and Parish was 108th with times of 26:37 and 26:39, respectively.  K.C. Fiedler was 111th with a time of 26:40.  Neil Long ran a time of 27:23 and placed 186th.  Craig Leavitt and Marc Whirlwind Soldier rounded out the team with times of 27:26 and 27:41, respectively.
