Dickinson, N.D. - The Black Hills State volleyball team was picked fifth overall in the Dakota Athletic Conference preseason volleyball poll.

Dickinson State was tabbed to repeat as Dakota Athletic Conference Champions for the seventh consecutive season. The Yellow Jackets received 29 points in the voting and was separated by only one point from fourth place Minot State. Jamestown and Dakota State tied for second with 37 points. Valley City State and South Dakota Tech landed in a tie for sixth place earning 16 points each. Rounding out the poll was Mayville State with 10 points.

Head Coach Jhett Albers believes that the Yellow Jackets will be very competitive in the Dakota Athletic Conference this season.

“We have a chance to really make some things happen this season,” said Albers. “There are teams in our conference that are always tough, but we just have to believe in ourselves, play hard, stay healthy and then we’ll see what happens as an end result.”

The Yellow Jackets open the season on Saturday, August 26 against Haskell Indian Nations. The match is slated to begin at 3 p.m. in the Donald E. Young Center. There is no admission charge for spectators to attend the opening match.
