Billings, Mont. – The Black Hills State University men’s and women’s cross country teams both competed at the Yellowjacket Invitational on Saturday morning in Billings, Mont.

The women’s team finished second with 52 points.  Black Hills State was led by Erin Curran who ran the 5,000-meter course in 18:34 to place fifth.  She was followed closely by teammates Courtney Dickson and Lela Carpenter who placed sixth and seventh, respectively.  Dickson finished with a time of 18:35 and Carpenter posted a time of 18:36.

The Yellow Jacket men’s team placed fifth after scoring 105 points.  Black Hills State only had one individual finish in the top 10 on the 8,000-meter course.  Marc Whirlwind Soldier finished tenth with a time of 25:41.

Black Hills State travel to Yankton, S.D. for the Mount Marty Invitational on October 23.  The women’s race begins at 11 a.m. CT and the men’s race is slated to start at 11:45 a.m. CT.
