Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State volleyball team competed Saturday and Sunday in exhibition play this past weekend.
The Yellow Jackets traveled to Dickinson, N.D. on Saturday and faced National American, Minot State and the host, Dickinson State. On Sunday, Black Hills State squared off with Sheridan CC, Miles City JC and South Dakota Tech.
Head Coach Jhett Albers liked what he saw this weekend.
“Saturday, we played really well,” said Albers. “Both the experienced players young ones had the chance to compete at a high level of intensity. I think our intensity level dropped on Sunday.”
Black Hills State received contributions from multiple student-athletes.
“Kristin (Engle) made plays both offensively and defensively. Mandy (Brumfield) hustled to the ball and Alyssa (Boeding) was steady, as always,” said Albers.
“We have a great team chemistry this year,” said Engle. “We are communicating really well and that is making us better on the court.”
The Yellow Jackets will open the regular season at home on Saturday when they will play Haskell Indian Nations in the Young Center.
