Orange City, Iowa – The Black Hills State University volleyball team moved to 3-6 on the season after defeating Briar Cliff and Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday at the Red Raider Classic in Orange City, Iowa.

The first match of the day had the Yellow Jackets defeating Briar Cliff 3-0.  The Yellow Jackets won each set with scores of 25-21, 25-20, and 25-23.

Black Hills State won its second match on Saturday against Dakota Wesleyan 3-2.  Black Hills State dropped the first set 21-25 and the rebounded in the second to win 25-23.  After falling in the third set 23-25, the Yellow Jackets won the fourth set 25-16 and the deciding set 15-12.

“We have been playing better,” said head coach Jennifer Weitzel.  “Getting our first win is big.  We need to build on this for tomorrow’s matches.”

Black Hills State will travel to Dickinson, N.D. on Sept. 3-4 for a triangular tournament.  Black Hills State will play Dickinson State and Bemidji State on Friday.  The Yellow Jackets will square off with Montana State-Northern and Bemidji State on Saturday.
