Spearfish, S.D. – The Tenth Annual Mark Larscheid Memorial Golf Tournament will take place on July 3 at the Spearfish Canyon Country Club in Spearfish, S.D.

Proceeds from this tournament will enhance the Mark Larscheid Scholarship Endowment.  The scholarship awarded from the endowment goes to a track and field student-athlete at Black Hills State.

In August of 2000, the Larscheid family experienced a great tragedy when Mark Larscheid’s life was cut short in an automobile accident in Spearfish Canyon.  Born and raised in South Dakota, Mark and his wife, Mary, raised their children, Shane, Summer, and Slade.  Larscheid was a loving husband and father, gifted teacher, dedicated coach and friend.

Larscheid was a talented athlete and set the South Dakota state high school track & field record when he ran the 110-meter hurdles in 14.1 seconds in 1969.  In the fall of 2009, Larscheid was inducted posthumously into the Yellow Jacket Athletic Hall of Fame for his achievements in track and football.  Also in 2009, Mary Larscheid-Christensen was inducted into the Yellow Jacket Athletic Hall of Fame for her contributions and support of Yellow Jacket Athletics.

To enter into the Mark Larscheid Memorial Golf Tournament, fill out the entry form online at www.bhsu.edu/athletics and follow the instructions to return it to Mary Larscheid-Christensen.
