Spearfish, S.D. – Black Hills State golf team strived for improvement this year and they accomplished that and have two all-conference golfers to show for it. Freshmen Brandi Holmes and Jenessa Rantapaa each earned the honor for the Jackets.

The top six golfers following the six conference tournaments are all honored as the All Conference team. The Yellow Jackets finished as DAC runner-up but are a very young team with four freshmen and two sophomores on their roster. Brandi Holmes is a freshman from Cody, Wyoming and in her first year with the Yellow Jackets. Holmes earned third place individually in the DAC. Rantapaa is a Lead native, she finished sixth overall in the Dakota Athletic Conference this season, even with missing the first meet of the season. She worked extremely hard to overcome scoring a zero for missing the first meet of the season.

“They worked really hard for what they accomplished,” said head coach Jaime Bentley “It’s a great accomplishment for these two student-athletes. They led the team, a team that is very young and had a lot of success this season and we really look forward to building on that in the coming seasons.”

The Yellow Jackets will look to build on a successful season next fall as they don’t lose anyone to graduation.
