Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State University Softball Team went one and one in a double header against Western Nebraska Community College at the BHSU Softball Complex. The Yellow Jackets looked good early in the afternoon defeating the Cougars 8-0. However, the Yellow Jackets were not able to keep the fire alive in the second game as they fell 1-10.
The Yellow Jackets looked strong in the first game behind Katie Wagner’s strong arm from the mound and a zero error defensive team performance. However, Wagner’s efforts were not limited to defense as she combined with Krista Gleiforst for seven of the teams eight RBIs. The Yellow Jackets looked to be firing on all cylinders as they rolled to an 8-0 victory in six innings.
In the second game, Black Hills State pulled out to an early one run lead. The one run kept the Yellow Jackets ahead until the Cougars put together two big rallies in innings six and seven. The late push was too much for the Yellow Jackets to overcome as they fell 1-10 to the visitors.
The Yellow Jackets will face off against Western Nebraska again at home on Monday, May 3, 2010. Game times are set for 4 and 6 PM.
