Spearfish, S.D. – The Yellow Jacket golf team has high expectations coming into the spring season. Currently the Jackets sit second in the conference trailing Minot State by only three points and they have two golfers who rank in the top 10 individually heading into the spring season.
This past fall the Jackets traveled for all of their meets. This spring two out of three of their meets are local. Black Hills State will kick off the fall season at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology Invitational April 11-12 in Rapid City, S.D. The Jackets will then host the Black Hills State University Invitational and the last meet before the NAIA National Tournament will be the Dickinson State University Invitational.
“We are looking forward to building on the outstanding fall season.” Said head women’s golf coach Jaime Bentley “I feel we have a great opportunity to make some noise in the conference and we are looking forward to playing some tournaments closer to home.”
The Yellow Jackets have a very young team and winning the Jamestown College Invitational meet could prove to be pivotal to help build the confidence of the young team. The Jackets roster six golfers of those six, four of them are freshmen and two are sophomores. Freshman Brandi Holmes had a very successful fall season and currently sits second in the DAC while sophomore Katelynn Lamb is currently in sixth place.
