Paige Albers, a senior at Doherty High School in Colorado Springs, CO has signed a letter of intent at Black Hills State University for softball beginning in the fall of 2010. Paige is the younger sister of current junior first baseman, Nicole Albers. Paige will study Journalism at BHSU. Her parents are Rob and Betsy Albers.

“Paige is a great addition to our team. She already knows many of the players and has an idea of what is expected on the BHSU softball team from her sister, Commented Coach Gurney. Paige will play outfield and contribute in the batting lineup.”

Paige had a great softball career at Doherty. As a team captain her senior year, she led the team in doubles, slugging percentage, and was top two with batting average. In both her junior and senior years she was named to the Gazette All-Area Team and was first team All-Metro League. During her senior year she was named to the Colorado Academic All-State team, a Rotary Champions Nominee, and made the senior All-Star team for all 5A schools in Colorado.

“Paige has a ton of experience, and we are excited to see the leadership and skill she brings to the field. We know she will make an impact on Yellow Jacket Softball in the years to come, Coach Gurney said.”
