Lenaya Vigil has signed a letter of intent to play softball beginning in the fall of 2010 for Black Hills State University.  Vigil is currently a senior at Northridge High School for athletics and attends University High School for her academics. Both schools are in Greeley, Colorado.  Lenaya also plays for the Triple Crown Stars club team during the off season.

Lenaya has been a standout on the field lettering all 4 years of her high school career, where she was named rookie of the year in 2007. In the 2008 and 2009 seasons, she was a great asset to her team leading them to two regional championships. In both years she was named Offensive Player of the Year and All-Conference as a catcher. “Lenaya gets it done both offensively and defensively. She will be used mainly as a catcher for us, but also has skills as a utility player. She brings a lot of versatility to the field, but also has great power with a bat in her hands. She will be an offensive threat for us and it is what we need after losing three big bats with our graduating seniors this upcoming spring,” Commented Head Coach Amy Gurney. She doesn’t just excel on the field; she has also been on the honor roll each year of her high school career and a member of the National Honor Society from 2008 to the present.  Lenaya plans to pursue a degree in Biology at Black Hills State University.

“Lenaya is an outstanding addition to our team. She really is the total package. She exceeds in the classroom and on the field. Our team takes pride in having strong team chemistry, where players are like family. I know that Lenaya will fit in well, and we are excited that she will be part of our family here at Black Hills State University,” commented Coach Gurney.  Lenaya’s parents are Roger and Gina Vigil.
