Kyley Barela, a 2009 graduate of Cheyenne East High School in Cheyenne, WY will complete the Yellow Jacket Roster for the 2009-2010 season. Kyley is a second baseman and outfielder. She plans on pursuing a Psychology degree at BHSU. Her parents are Charles and Cynthia Barela.

“I am very excited to add Kyley to our program, commented Coach Gurney. Kyley completes are defense. She gives us versatility in the infield and outfield which is what we need after losing three strong defensive players last year. Kyley will fit great with our team. Her personality and dedication to the game are exactly what I look for in recruits.”

Off the field Kyley is a well-rounded individual. In 2008 she won the State High School Student Art Conference East High Blue Ribbon and the Hispanic Organization for Progress and Education (HOPE) STAR Award. On the field she has received numerous all-star and all-American selections. “I am very excited that Kyley has chosen Black Hills State University. I truly believe it is a great fit for her and she is a great fit for BHSU softball,” Coach Gurney stated.
