The Yellow Jacket Men’s Basketball program concluded their season this past Monday night losing to the eventual National Champion Oklahoma Wesleyan University 85-72. The Yellow Jackets led at halftime 46-45 but it wasn’t enough as the Yellow Jackets finished 30-5 on the season. BHSU broke many records during their remarkable run to the final four of the NAIA National Tournament.
Records Set in 2008-09 Season:
- 30-5 Most wins and best ever record at BHSU.
- 15 Wins in a row best ever win streak at BHSU.
- First Ever Final Four Appearance in the NAIA National Tournament.
- Sophomore Will John Johnson breaks Jeff Stevens single season rebound record with 348. The previous record was set in 1997 by Stevens with 313.
- Sophomore Cain Atkinson breaks Kim Templeton’s single season free throw % record . Templeton’s record was set in 1975 with a mark of 87.4%. Atkinson shot 87.7% in the 2008-09 season. Cain also went over the 1000 point mark as a sophomore bringing his career total to 1051 in his two seasons at BHSU.
