The Black Hills State University track and field program, in conjunction with Lean Horse Productions, will host the inaugural “This is MY Year” run/walk at 9 a.m. on New Year’s Day at Lyle Hare Stadium in Spearfish.
The “This is MY Year” program is a fitness program designed for all levels. Jerry Dunn of Lean Horse Productions came up with the idea for “This is MY Year.” According to Dunn, the sole purpose of this new event is to encourage everyone to start the year in a positive way.
“There is something for everyone at this event,” stated Dunn. “Even if you don’t adhere to a regular walking or running routine, we want you to come.”
The event includes a 5K run/walk, a one-mile run/walk and a half-mile run/walk. For those not wishing to participate in the run/walk portion of the event, refreshments will be provided.
“We all make New Year’s resolutions,” said Dunn. “Many of us seem to forget them by February or March. We want to change that.”
Each paid entrant will receive an embroidered “This is MY Year” workout towel and everyone will have the opportunity to fill out a Resolution Registration Form. The Resolution Registration Form has goals in each of the following areas: fitness, nutrition, volunteerism and participation. Lean Horse Productions keeps the Resolution Registration Forms on file to help you stay motivated, answer your questions and celebrate your progress.
Registration for this event is $20 per person can be done in advance or the day of from 8-9 a.m. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Black Hills State track and field program. For more information, contact Jerry Dunn at 605-641-3534 or via e-mail at LeanHorse@Rushmore.com.
