The Yellow Jackets traveled this past Sunday fresh off the holiday break to Sioux Falls, South Dakota to play two games in the Sioux Falls Classic. Entering the classic the Yellow Jackets were 11-3 and ranked 9th in the NAIA.
On Monday, the Yellow Jackets got off to a fast start against Viterbo University behind strong guard play from junior Brittany Fuhrman, sophomore Katelynn Lamb, and freshman Keely Krolikowski. The three guards combined for 43 points on the evening. The Yellow Jackets had the lead at halftime 43-21. In the second half the Yellow Jackets kept the heat on Viterbo winning the game 73-43. They were led by Brittany Fuhrman with 17 points. Katelynn Lamb had 14 points and Keely Krolikowski added 12 points.
Tuesday, the Yellow Jackets took on the home team University of Sioux Falls who had just got done a few weeks back beating the #4 team in the NAIA. The game was tied going into halftime at 25-25. USF built a seven point lead with four minutes to go in the game. The Yellow Jackets came roaring back to tie the game at 50 to send it into overtime. In overtime, the Yellow Jackets outscored USF 8-5 to take the game 58-55. The Yellow Jackets were led by Katelynn Lamb with 13 points. Junior Alana Dykhouse added 12 points.
The 13-3 Yellow Jackets will now travel next weekend to Dickinson State University and Minot State for Dakota Athletic Conference play. Please visit the BHSU website for exact game times and locations.
