The Yellow Jackets came into the weekend 7-3 and ranked #13 in the NAIA entering Dakota Athletic Conference play. Both nights BHSU got off to a strong start building big halftime leads over Mayville State and Dakota State.
Friday, the Yellow Jackets held Mayville State to only 17 points in the first half. Going into halftime the Yellow Jackets had the lead 38-17. In the second half the Yellow Jackets maintained their lead behind strong guard play to take the game 73-46. BHSU was led by freshman Keely Krolikowski with 13 points. Sophomore Katelynn Lamb had 12 points, freshman Tiffany Thomas had 11 points, and junior Brittany Fuhrman added 10 points.
Saturday, the Yellow Jackets go off to another strong start behind hot outside shooting from Brittany Fuhrman and Katelynn Lamb. Going into halftime the Yellow Jackets had the lead 45-28. In the second half the Yellow Jackets built on their lead to take the game 88-61. Katelynn Lamb led the way for the Yellow Jackets with 20 points. Brittany Fuhrman added 17 points connecting on five three-pointers.
With the win the Yellow Jackets improved to 9-3 on the season. They will now travel to Division II Chadron State College Tuesday for a non-conference game. They will return home Saturday night to face off against Presentation College at 5:30PM. Their final game before Christmas will be on December 19th against Montana Tech in the Donald E. Young Center.
