This Saturday the Black Hills State cross country teams will compete at the 2008 Dakota Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships. The meet returns to the Madison Country Club in Madison, SD, the site of the inaugural event in 2000 in which both Yellow Jacket teams won DAC titles.

The “Running Yellow Jacket” women will start the morning’s action at 11:00 am with a 5k race, with the men’s 8k race to follow at 11:45 am. The top teams in each race qualify for the NAIA National Meet to be held in Kenosha, WI November 22. The top fifteen individuals in each race earn All-DAC honors. In the latest NAIA Cross Country Coaches’ Poll released on November 4th the “Running Yellow Jacket” women are ranked 9th and the men 12th.

There are four Yellow Jacket runners competing in their final DAC Conference Meet. Jamie Adams, Sundance, WY, Alicia Verhulst, Ralph, SD, Cody Bordewyk, Livermore, CO and Jesse Vrooman, Miller, SD. Senior two-time All-American Kerry Nekuda, the 2007 DAC individual champion, will not be competing in the DAC due to injury.
