The Lady Yellow Jacket Women’s Basketball team opened this past weekend with a trip 45 minutes down the road to Rapid City, South Dakota to play in the South Dakota School of Mines Classic.  A year ago the Lady Yellow Jacket reached the Elite Eight of the NAIA National Tournament and set a record for wins on the season with 28.

On Friday afternoon, the Lady Yellow Jackets took on Dordt College where they came out strong behind solid guard play from junior Brittany Fuhrman, sophomore Katelynn Lamb, and freshman Piggy Pili.  All three scored in double figures on the afternoon.  The Lady Yellow Jackets took a seven point lead into halftime and never looked back as they won the game71-57.  

Saturday, the Lady Yellow Jackets once again got off to a great start against Dana College taking a 10 point lead into halftime at 32-22.  Sophomore Danielle Bauer had a big game inside with 12 points and five rebounds.  The Lady Jackets also got another solid performance from Katelynn Lamb with 17 points.  The Lady Yellow Jackets maintained their 10 point lead in the second half and won the game 65-55 improving to 2-0 on the season.

The Lady Yellow Jackets will be back in action this Friday and Saturday night as they travel to Dakota Wesleyan University and Mount Marty College.  Please check the schedule for exact game times and locations.
