This Saturday the Yellow Jackets will kickoff their final home conference game against Minot State University. The Yellow Jackets will enter the game 5-2 (3-1 DAC) looking to rebound from last weeks loss on the road at Dickinson State. The Beavers enter the game 4-3 (3-1 DAC) tied with the Yellow Jackets for second place in the conference. “Every week becomes a must win game. Two conference losses will not get it done. We have to play with urgency but not panic” said Head Coach John Scott.
Offensively the Yellow Jackets will look to develop their running game behind sophomore running back Tanner Ehrlich. “We have to find a way to run the ball and be patient with it” added Coach Scott. Minot State defensively has been very good so far this season at stopping the run. “We will have to make good adjustments offensively. Minot State is very aggressive and athletic on defense” said Coach Scott.
The Beavers have the leading rusher in the conference in senior Nick Banks averaging 138 yards rushing per game. Defensively the Yellow Jackets will look to slow the running game down and prevent Banks from breaking the big play. Banks is touching the ball over 30 times per game.
Kickoff will be this Saturday at 1:00 PM MST in Lyle Hare Stadium on the campus of Black Hills State University. Saturday will be Senior Day where Coach Scott and his staff will honor the 14 seniors and their families before kickoff. If you are unable to attend the game you can see it live through pay per view on the BHSU Athletics Website.
